Our Work

Our Work

Communities are central to the success of our project.

We want to connect people to the wildlife and cultural heritage of the Central Chilterns. Our work covers three themes – wildlife, heritage and community – all designed with the Chilterns landscape in mind. Our interweaving projects have been especially developed to provide opportunities for people and communities to learn about and care for the Chilterns.

Explore

Wildlife

Orchids, yellowhammers, chalk streams! There is so much to see in the Chilterns, and we're working hard to protect it for future generations.

Heritage

Who were the bodgers of the Chilterns and what were their lives like? Discover the fascinating history of the Chilterns with us and our delivery partners.

People

Get on your boots and get exploring! Make new friends, learn new skills and have fun in the Chilterns!

What do we do?

Since starting our project work in 2019, the Chalk Cherries and Chairs team has been busy…

  • Planting lots of new hedges across our farmer cluster
  • Working with farmers to form new corridors and protect habitats and species
  • Working with local creatives on music videos, art exhibits and new story collections
  • Reviving traditional crafts of the Chilterns
  • Welcoming hundreds of families to events each year
  • Surveying the state of wildlife and key species, to inform policy and how we can improve our landscape
  • Working with young people to inspire the next generation of would-be environmentalists
