Neighbourhood plans
As well as responding to consultations on neighbourhood plans, we also support communities who want to make a difference in their neighbourhood.
The Chilterns Conservation Board welcomes neighbourhood planning, it is a great way for communities in and around the AONB to shape and manage change in their areas in ways that are truly respond to the local environment.
With over a hundred parishes in the AONB, there are lots of neighbourhood plans underway and scope for a lot more. Some parishes are even reviewing their plans and are on the second time around!
We are about to publish an online Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit, but in the meantime you might find these guides from national organisations useful:
- How to shape where you live: CPRE’s guide to neighbourhood planning
- What’s Special to You: CPRE’s guide to landscape issues in neighbourhood plans
- Locality’s guide to neighbourhood planning
We have also developed a Model Policy for the Chilterns AONB which is primarily for local plans but which you might want to consider including in your neighbourhood plan.
Watch this space for more details of our Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit, and details of neighbourhood plans published or being prepared across the Chilterns.
